Making Mittens at Lyncrest Airport November 2013 - great idea for your winter survival kit!

November 22nd - Friday night: With the fireplace roaring, and an outdoor windchill of -36C, the 15 Mitten Makers were highly motivated to get their warm winter mittens or survival kit mittens started. The Lyncrest community club was packed full of recycled fabric, skins and furs. Maruice, one of Lyncrest's neighbours dropped off several gorgeous leather jackets he'd been keeping for about 3 decades...they are now being transformed into warm outer mittens! Sarah, Ameena, and Rick helped with the workshop. Thank you Maurice, Sarah, Ameena and Rick!! Cost $30, cheques made out to the Springfield Flying Club.

December 5th  - Folks interested in making mittens will meet at Lyncrest at 6:00 or 6:30ish. email jill.oakes@ad.umanitoba.ca to register.

If you are interested in making your own mukluks or skin boots, email Jill as we might offer a moccasin making workshop again on a couple of cold nights in January...will even have some sewing igloos for those who want to use traditional untanned skins!
